"My name is Travis, and I do Travis things"

“It was rare for a week to go by and not get a sarcastic text message or voicemail from Trav telling me how spoiled I was to be stationed in Hawaii. It was Trav’s favorite place, and I’ve seen the spirit of what Trav embodied here every day - chaos in the ocean, beautiful nature, insane adventure, and respect for the land and natives. I can’t think of a place Trav would have thrived in life more - Hawaii is made for him.

Trav’s flag has been all over the island since arriving here in Hawaii, and the Likeke waterfall has been our favorite trip. Trav had a thing for waterfalls, and I’ve always been the same way. Not only is it a majestic ending to a grueling hike, but the pure vastness and power of a waterfall is incredible. The honor it was to carry his flag with us on our hike made me feel proud, and made me thankful to be stationed here and experience adventures like this every week.

This hike is in a remote part of the island, and not a well known area. Sydney and I only saw a handful of people during our trip, and still to my complete disbelief, passed one individual wearing a tee-shirt, that in big white letters on the front said “My name is Travis, and I do Travis things”. As if it wasn’t already evident, Trav’s spirit was with us.

Thank you to Kyle Mackey for flying Trav’s flag to the islands for me. Trav - I miss you brother. Wish you had been here in person with me these past 2 weeks. Thanks for keeping us safe up there.” - Lake Lutes
